Tax Incentive

Iceland offers reimbursements of 25 - 35% for costs incurred within the country.

All feature films, TV shows, and documentaries produced in Iceland are eligible for a 25% refund, regardless of the project's total cost, crew size, or number of shooting days.

To qualify for a 35% refund, a production must meet the following criteria:

Costs incurred in Iceland must be at least ISK 350 million.
The project must have a minimum of 30 working days in Iceland, which can include shooting or post-production days. Out of these 30 days, at least 10 must be shooting days in Iceland.
The project must employ at least 50 staff members directly, with their wages taxed in Iceland.

For all productions, if more than 80% of the total production costs are incurred in Iceland, the reimbursement is calculated based on the total production cost incurred within the European Economic Area (EEA).
